Pension seminars and articles

Jo Whiterod writes regularly for the pensions/company secretarial press and devises occasional seminars in conjunction with some of the leading advisers and service providers to the pensions industry.

BREAKFAST SEMINAR ON 29 SEPTEMBER 2016

Understanding death in service cover

Devised by Jo Whiterod and hosted by Barnett Waddingham at their London office

The provision of death in service cover through Excepted Life plans has become increasingly common following recent reductions in the Lifetime Allowance – these plans are often used alongside the well-established Registered arrangements.

But there are significant differences between the two. We aim to provide important clarification on these contrasting schemes.

Guest speaker Wyn Derbyshire of gunnercooke will join us to cover a range of legal issues relating to both types of scheme, along with our Head of Workplace Health, Carl Chapman, including:

  • similarities and differences between Registered and Excepted schemes
  • an overview of relevant tax matters
  • legal and practical considerations for trustees regarding lump sum payments
  • communications with employees, insurers and administrators

We do hope you will join us for this informative seminar, which promises to be of value to employers and trustees alike. For more information/to apply for your free invitation see barnett-waddingham.co.uk
